Yes, we are celebrating #SchoolNurseDay2020 because it is important to acknowledge that our work continues, and the importance is heightened during this national emergency. Over the past 7 weeks, I have featured stories of school nurses across the country who are doing remarkable things to support their students, staff, families, and community.
On Wednesday, May 6th, we will have a #SchoolNurseChat on Twitter with school nurses across the country to check-in with colleagues and yes, celebrate. These rituals are not only important, but they also help us stay connected and provide support in turbulent times. Most schools will remain closed for face to face learning for the rest of the school year. Being in touch has never felt more helpful and comforting.
To all of my colleagues caring for our country’s 56 million students, your efforts are important, impactful, and innovative in the most consequential time that I can remember. For this reason, and so many more, we will celebrate #SchoolNurseDay2020, together!
