Mental health emerged as a critical concern for school nurses across the country. We acknowledged the growing need for support and the importance of destigmatizing mental health issues. Through our discussions, we shared best practices for recognizing signs of distress, providing early interventions, and connecting students with appropriate resources.
Attending these conferences and connecting with my fellow school nurses has been a profoundly inspiring experience. It has reminded me of the vital role we play in the lives of students and the broader community. As I prepare to return to school this fall, I feel a renewed sense of purpose and a deeper appreciation for the work we do every day. The lessons I’ve learned from my colleagues will continue to guide my practice and inspire me to be the best advocate and caregiver I can be.
Thank you to the school nursing organizations in Missouri, New England, South Carolina, and Kansas for inviting me to present at your state conferences. My deepest appreciation to the organizers of the conferences and to every single school nurse who shared their stories with me. I enjoyed meeting you, taking selfies together, hearing your experiences, and celebrating our profession. Keep up the good work, continue getting into some good trouble, and take stands for your well-being along with your students.
