Are you ready to see nurses leading the way in civic engagement? As a school nurse passionate about empowering our profession, I’m always eager to share opportunities that encourage nurses to be advocates—not just for health, but for democracy as well. That’s why I’m excited to help spread the word about an upcoming collaboration between two incredible organizations: Healing Politics and Vot-ER. They’re offering a new webinar:
Civic Pulse: Nurses & Midwives Sparking a Healthy Democracy
I hope you’ll consider joining the conversation!
Why This Matters
Those of us in healthcare know that the well-being of our students, families, and communities is influenced by far more than what happens in clinics or schools. Social policies, resource allocation, and civic decision-making have profound impacts—and voting is how those decisions are shaped. Research shows that higher voter participation helps build healthier, more resilient communities. Yet so many eligible voters—especially in underserved areas—aren’t registered or don’t make it to the polls.
Healing Politics, dedicated to preparing nurses and midwives for civic leadership, has teamed up with Vot-ER, a leader in integrating voter registration into healthcare spaces, to provide practical strategies and encouragement through this upcoming event.
About the Event
Set aside time on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 7:00 to 8:00 PM EDT for this virtual learning and networking opportunity. Whether you’re new to civic engagement or have been at it for years, this session will offer:
-
Insight into the strong connection between voter participation and community health
-
Nonpartisan, easy-to-implement strategies for weaving voter registration into your daily practice
-
Ideas for empowering patients, families, and even your colleagues to get involved
-
Opportunities to connect with other healthcare professionals committed to making a difference
Why Nurses & Midwives?
We are trusted voices in nearly every corner of our communities. Did you know that 62% of unregistered voters say they’ve never been asked to register? Simple conversations can spark lasting change. You don’t need to be a policy expert—just willing to help create more access and equity.
Healing Politics and Vot-ER offer resources that make nonpartisan voter registration safe, easy, and engaging. The goal is always empowerment—not partisanship. I encourage you to check out this event; it’s a fantastic way to learn, connect, and help build a healthier, more civically engaged society—one conversation at a time.
