I am so very proud of my #Twitter friend & nursing colleague, Melanie Rogers, MPH, RN. She is making international waves with her “No Journals, No Evidence-Based Practice” movement, otherwise known as #NoJournalsNoEBP. The idea came from a middle of the night #TwitterRant when Melanie shared her frustration with no longer having access to her beloved university library system after she graduated.
Melanie works in public health nursing and often serves as a practicum preceptor for nursing students. She became frustrated without having access to current journals or the ability to do research in her areas of practice. Her valid argument was shared on Twitter and the response has been sweeping and international.
I invited Melanie to write about the #NoJournalsNoEBP initiative through several blog posts on the Relentless School Nurse. The initial blog post was in March of 2019 and there have been two updates that documented the response to the movement and some innovative initiatives happening across the country that address access to journals. She also received responses from the U.K. and Australia just to name a few countries.
In the past few days Melanie has published two Op-Eds that document her journey. Here are links to both of the them, which, in keeping with the theme of #NoJournalsNoEBP, are both open access!
