LATEST UPDATES from Sharon’s daughter, Bailey

September 14, 2023

There was a time not too many days ago I thought I may never hear my mom’s voice again — a thought that pained me to the deepest depths of my being. Today I got the best surprise I’ve ever gotten in my life — I got to hear her voice a day early!! Not once, not twice, but THREE times. The plan was to take her breathing tube out tomorrow so you can imagine I was floored when I got the call that my mom wanted to talk to me ? We had to FaceTime today since I couldn’t make it to the hospital — I had to work from home, attend appointments, and tend to some adult things on the back end, but you best believe I’ll be there tomorrow. She asked if my brother Jacob was coming up to stay overnight with her like he has night after night after night. I have the upmost respect for my brother for the dedication and deep love he has for our mom. When I told her he was coming she said, “They better let him stay with me”. I said, “What, are you gonna fight them?” and without hesitation she said, “F*ck yeah!!” Trust me when I say my mom is definitely all there ? I want to extend my sincerest gratitude to everyone who has reached out to my family, sent my mom prayers, played AC/DC for her, sent gifts and food, donated to her fundraiser, and countless other things. I’m sure most of you know my mom is very humble. I told her many times before the accident that I don’t think she understands the magnitude of the number of lives she has impacted. You all have proved that. I know everyone has been waiting for updates about my mom. She is still in the ICU, and likely will be for quite some time, but I’d say she’s had 4 pretty damn good days in a row, all things considered! As a daughter, I want nothing more than to protect my mom at any and all costs — that is why I have been cautious about providing updates. Thank you for respecting that I am not ready to share the extent of her injuries with everyone yet. I will say that she has had numerous very significant injuries and a few of them have been life-altering. She has many weeks, and months and years of recovery ahead of her and there will be a lot of money spent making sure she can come home safely when she is ready. Jacob and I are ready to dedicate our lives and careers to caring for our mom to the fullest extent. I hear people say that kids don’t fully comprehend the magnitude of love that parents have for them, but I think it goes both ways — I don’t think my mom will ever fully comprehend the depths of our love for her either. Thank you again for respecting our privacy at this time but please know that I’m providing updates every time I feel it’s right to do so. Tomorrow is a big day for my mom. The tentative plan is that she is going to undergo her second of many surgeries to come. Please say an extra prayer for her tonight before you go to bed or tomorrow when you’re going about your day. My mom is the most resilient person I know — I have faith she will get through every challenge she has yet to face, just as she’s gotten through every challenge up to this point. I love you, mom ❤️ Love, Your daughter, Bailey
