The Relentless School Nurse: Shattered Trust – Who Will Answer This Student’s Question?

In the aftermath of the tragic shooting at Apalachee High School, Wyatt Meyer, a senior at Clarke Central High School and Editor-in-Chief of the ODYSSEY Media Group, offers a poignant perspective on the ongoing epidemic of gun violence in American schools. As a student journalist deeply connected to his community, Meyer brings a unique and vital voice to this pressing issue.

Meyer channels his journalistic skills to shed light on the fears, frustrations, and hopes of students across the country. His editorial not only reflects on the immediate impact of the Apalachee shooting but also addresses the broader implications for student safety and the seemingly endless cycle of violence plaguing educational institutions.

Meyer’s words carry the weight of a generation grappling with the harsh reality of gun violence in what should be safe spaces for learning and growth. As both a witness to and potential victim of this epidemic, his editorial serves as a powerful call to action, challenging leaders and policymakers to move beyond mere rhetoric and enact meaningful change

Read Wyatt Meyer’s OpEd, “Can We Be Safe?” He and the 50 million students who attend America’s schools deserve an answer.

  1. Wyatt’s words are clear, focused. Sparse and enormously powerful at the same time. The least we could do is honor him and every other student in the country and move heaven and earth to answer his question in the affirmative.
