The Relentless School Nurse: Grandparents for Vaccines – Protecting the Next Generation Through Advocacy and Action

Grandparents for Vaccines is a national, nonpartisan organization dedicated to protecting the health of children through the proven power of immunization. Founded by grandparents who understand both the joys and responsibilities of their unique role, the organization harnesses the collective voice of older adults to advocate for strong vaccination policies and to combat misinformation about vaccines.

Silence will surely cause the death of more of our grandchildren, and we cannot let that happen.

As someone who recently became a grandmother, this mission has become deeply personal for me. Welcoming my grandchild into the world filled me with immense joy—and a renewed sense of responsibility to help ensure a healthy, safe future for all children. That’s why I’ve joined Grandparents for Vaccines, to add my voice to a growing movement of grandparents determined to protect the next generation.

With more than 67 million grandparents in the United States, Grandparents for Vaccines recognizes the influential role grandparents play as trusted family advisors and community advocates. Many in this generation have firsthand memories of the devastation caused by diseases like polio, measles, and whooping cough—illnesses that are now largely preventable thanks to vaccines. Drawing on this lived experience, the organization empowers grandparents to share accurate, science-based information and to speak out in support of immunization.
