The Relentless School Nurse: Reflections – Looking Back and Forward

This is a blog post that is looking back on some highlights of 2019 through pictures. There have been so many important moments in the past year, this blog post includes only a few of them.  I don’t know what 2020 will bring, but there are some really exciting adventures on the horizon for The Relentless School Nurse! I want to personally thank everyone who has contributed to my blog and a special debt of gratitude to my readers! You have made 2019 a banner year for the blog and I hope to keep providing content that brings you back in 2020.

2019 is second year in a row that The Relentless School Nurse is included as a Top Nurse Blog!
What an honor & professional highlight, speaking at Representative Lauren Underwood’s press conference about gun violence in schools.
It was such a big honor to speak at the Texas School Nurse Organization (TSNO) Fall Conference.
Collaborating with Dr. Mary Beth Miotta at the 2019 NJ AAP School Health Conference was especially exciting because we are Twitter friends!
Speaking at Villanova University – School of Nursing was a thrill!

One of the highlights of my nursing career was being invited to speak at the Future of Nursing 2030 Town Hall in Philadelphia.
The honor of teaching the next generation of school nurses at Rutgers-Camden Nursing for the past 7 years has enriched my life.
Serving as Co-Chair of the New Jersey State School Nurses Association Spring 2019 Conference along with Kathy McCutcheon was an absolute honor. Kevin Hines was our keynote speaker!
The day Scott Charles came to visit Camden City School District students and art teacher, Lisa Wallenburg working on the #NoMoreEmptyDesks project was BIG!
Serving as an AFFIRM Research advisory board member has been a personal and professional highlight. This inaugural meeting was also was featured on CBS Sunday Morning!
Co-authoring an article with Dr. Jeanette Betancourt of Sesame Street in Communities was so exciting!
Big hightlight was presenting at both a general session and breakout session for NASN2019 in Denver!
SONSIEL/Johnson & Johnson #NurseHackathon was a transformational experience! I presented about gun violence prevention through safe storage and was supported by a phenomenal group of nurses. 
I also had the pleasure of participating in an International Summit of Nursing Leaders through the generous invitation of Amy Deagle, Founder & CEO, The International Network of Nurse Leaders
