The Relentless School Nurse: Tell your Senators to Oppose Kennedy for Health and Human Services Secretary

Donald Trump’s nomination of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) has sparked significant controversy, particularly due to Kennedy’s history of vaccine skepticism and promotion of health misinformation.

Kennedy has been a prominent figure in the anti-vaccine movement, making numerous statements questioning the safety and efficacy of vaccines. He has claimed that no vaccine is safe and effective and has encouraged parents to resist CDC vaccination guidelines for children. His organization is known for spreading misinformation about vaccines, including discredited claims linking vaccines to autism. Public health experts have expressed serious concerns about the implications of his appointment, arguing that it could undermine vaccination efforts and public health initiatives in the United States.

In addition to his controversial views on vaccines, Kennedy has advocated for the removal of fluoride from drinking water, a stance that contradicts decades of public health consensus regarding fluoride’s role in preventing tooth decay. His broader health policy positions have raised alarms among medical professionals who fear that his leadership could lead to a decline in public health standards and increased vulnerability to preventable diseases.

Kennedy’s nomination must be confirmed by the Senate, where mixed reactions have already emerged. Some senators have refrained from commenting on their support for his confirmation, indicating a potentially contentious vetting process ahead. Critics argue that appointing someone with Kennedy’s track record could lead to another public health crisis similar to the mismanagement seen during the COVID-19 pandemic under Trump’s previous administration.

Overall, Kennedy’s nomination is viewed as a significant risk to national health policy, with many calling for a unanimous rejection from the Senate due to his history of promoting scientifically unfounded claims and undermining public trust in vaccines.

We are not powerless against the inevitable, our voices are our power, but only if we use it!

Read and sign this letter to our Senators to tell them to oppose Kennedy for Health and Human Services Secretary
